Ceciena Sardothien is an assassin, or she was, since she is now a slave in the mines of Endovier’s salts. She knows that she is considered dangerous, but here, strange, she thinks it’s her day of execution. In reality, Ceciena is dragged before the Prince of the Crown Dorian Havilliard, son of the King of Ardalan. This one will propose a market to him: it can either return in the mines of salts or become the champion of the king. By becoming the king’s champion, Elleena would practice her profession as a murderer but on behalf of the king for four years, and at the end of those four years of servitude, she would be freed and her name laundered. Elleena quickly accepted the Prince’s proposal because she wanted to regain her freedom. But Ceciena does not become the champion of the king like that, she has to prove herself and therefore participate in a competition that will reveal the great champion of the crown.
